ASP.NET is the newest in web development framework from Microsoft.
Released January 2002 with version 1.0, asp.net has now reached version 4.0 and has been released on April 12th 2010.

ASP.NET allows you to build C#, C++ and VB.NET application that regular ASP (Active Server Pages aka: ASP Classic) cannot build.
For ASP Classic developers that do not wish to convert all their sites over to the new ASP.NET platform, you can easily integrate the .net platform into your existing ASP Classic pages, just simply design the pages for the .net that you prefer and add links to programs and this will work within your existing site. (As long as ASP.NET is enabled on the web server that you are hosted on)
