Windows 7 mouse stops working and disapears from view when the monitor goes to sleep (or) with no activity for a long amount of time.
  • Details
Windows 7 mouse stops working and disappears from view when the monitor goes to sleep (or) with no activity for a long amount of time.
Windows 7 seems to have a problem with your mouse, and this seems to be an ongoing issue, even with the new full release of the Windows 7 Operating System. This issue also interupts the keyboard from properly functioning.
  • Recreate Issue
    To recreate this issue:
Let the monitor go to sleep and try to access your mouse (or) keyboard.
  • Resolve Issue
    To resolve this issue:

The only way that I know of at this moment is one of the following:
#1: move the mouse around until the mouse finally shows up.
This usually works in most cases, and will usually make a programs menu popup, this is normal, just click somewhere on the desktop to make it go away.

#2: From your keyboard hit: Ctrl Alt Del
Now, your keyboard may seem that it is not responding, just give it a moment and let it catch up with whatever is going on that is causing the mouse issue, as it seems to effect the performance of the keyboard as well, as it is unusable during this process.
Once the Window opens for you to choose an option, click on the [Cancel] button to go back to your desktop.

    #3:
If you have your monitor set to cut itself off after a certain time of inactivity, disable this function.
Instead, cut the monitor off itself but the button on the monitor or if this is a laptop, close your laptop lid (First setting the options NOT to cut off the computer with lid close)
This will stop the mouse from not functioning, as you will not be cutting anything off on the computer, you will only be cutting off the monitor.

This issue will hopefully be resolved in a future Windows 7 Service Pack (or) Windows 7 Hotfix
