    Trying to connect to a network share while in Windows 7.
  • Details
    When you click on the [Network] in the windows 7 start menu, windows explorer to connect to all available networked computers. This list may take up to a minute or so to generate as it is resolving all possible address across your lan.

    Once all computer are loaded, you will be able to click on each one and view its available shares. If for some reason a share is not currently available on a computer that shows in your network, you will get the following error.

     

    Windows cannot access \\MACHINE-NAME\
    Check the spelling of the name, Otherwise, there might be a problem with your network. To try to identify and resolve network problems, click Diagnose.

    The network path was not found.
  • Recreate Issue
    This error will happen if there is no available shares on the target machine.
  • Resolve Issue
    To correct this error and allow the Windows 7 machine to access that available shares, make sure that the target machine's administrator allows for shares on the system.
    There is no other way around this error.
