USB devices that are not proerply installed can cause Windows 7 to freeze.
  • Resolve Issue
If you have a USB keyboard or mouse installed, perform the following actions.
(This is done while the system is locked due to a windows freeze)

#1: Unplug the mouse and then plug the USB back up into a spare usb slot. This will re-initialize the mouse and install the drivers for the mouse again. This may correct the issue, and you should be able to then move your mouse around.

#2: Unplug your keyboard and plug it back into another usb slot.
This will re-initialize the keyboard and install any drivers that may need to be installed without rebooting the system.

These are proven to work methods to the USB mouse and or keyboard freeze issue.
This WILL NOT cure all freeze issues you may experiance.
If you are experiancing a freeze, then try this first, and then move on to other issues.
