When you view the Event Viewer in Windows 7, it may not display the events like it should
  • Details
When viewing Events in Windows 7 Event Viewer, you may notice that you cannot view the events when you click on the Windows Logs or Applications and Services and their subcategories.

This seems to be a bug in the Event Viewer.
  • Recreate Issue
Run Windows 7 Event Viewer and click on one of the selections to your left.
Sometimes the entries will show and sometimes they will not.
  • Resolve Issue
To view the events in the Event Viewer while using Windows 7, do the following.

Click on the item that you want to view.
    (Options)
    Application
    Security
    Setup
    System
    Forwarded Events.

You will see in the top of the center Pane rather there are items listed for this selection. If there are events listed, but are not showing in the list, select one of the other items from the left, and then quickly select the recent item again.

    Scenario #1:
    Step #1:
    Select a log file [System]

    Step #2:
    Select another log file [Application]

    Step #3:
Quickly re-select the first log file [System]

You should now be able to view the log file entries.
If this does not work, then repeat the steps over again until it does.

We are currently in the process of reporting this issue to Microsoft in hopes that it will be resolved in a future patch.

    Scenario #2:
Other things that you can try.
When you first open the Event Viewer allow it to fully load.
This can take upwards of a minute or so.
If this does not work, then try the above Scenerio instead.
