    During the installation of the Microsoft Failover Cluster, you might experience the following error if the name is identical to an existing name. "Cluster network name resource failed to create its associated computer object in domain."

    Installing SQL Server Failover Cluster throws error
     
    "Cluster network name resource failed to create its associated computer object in domain"
    when trying to install. This will also cause the Cluster Node to become [Stopped]
  • Recreate Issue
    Recreate Issue:

    When installing SQL Server Failover Cluster while using an identical [Cluster Network Name] will cause the error
     
    "Cluster network name resource failed to create its associated computer object in domain"

    This happens because there is already an existing Computer name registered in the [Active Directory Users and Computers].
  • Resolve Issue
    Resolve Issue:

    Log on to the DC or backup DC. Open [Active Directory Users and Computers].
    Navigate to [Computers]
    search for the [Cluster Network Name].
    Right-click and choose [Delete]
    Answer [Yes] to the popup dialog.

    Back in SQL Server Installation, click [Retry].
    The process should complete.
