    Windows 7 may give you an error that the network path was not found, if you are missing the DNS Server's IP Address, in the Properties of your Network Card. Add in the DNS IP Address, and this should resolve this issue.

    When trying to join a domain with a Windows 7 machine, you may encounter the following error.

     

    The following error accurred attempting to join the domain
    "DOMAIN NAME":
    The network path was not found.
  • Recreate Issue
    To recreate this issue.

    There are different issues that can cause this type of error within Window's 7.

    Scenario #1:

    Your network card properties does not have the IP Address of your Domain Server, within the DNS Server's.
  • Resolve Issue
    To resolve this issue:

    Scenario #1:

    Adding in the DNS Server information for the Domain Server, will allow the computer that is trying to join the domain, to talk back and forth with the Domain Server.
    Thus allowing the computer to then join the domain, as long as all credentials are correct.

    The following information will show you how to add in the DNS Server IP Address of the Domain Sever. You must first find out the:
    Domain Server IP Address
    ISP DNS Server's IP Address
    The 2 above address's you can obtain by asking your system's administrator or technical personal.

    Go to [Computer]
    Then Right Click on [Network]
    Go to [Properties]

    When the [Network and Sharing Center] opens
    Click on [Local Area Connection]


    When the [Local Area Connection] dialog opens.
    Click on [Properties]

    When the [Properties] dialog opens.
    Choose either: [Version 6] or [Version 4] of the [Internet Protocol].
    (6 is the new longer IP address's, this is not for most people, please ask your system's administrator or technical personal, on which of these your network is)
    Either [Double Click] or choose [Properties] on the version for you.

    Once the IP Properties dialog opens, you will need to assign static DNS Server's.
    If you do not know these, please ask your system's administrator or technical personal for this information.

     
    Preferred DNS Server: 192.168.2.7 (This will be the Domain Server's IP Address)
    Alternate DNS Server: 100.100.100.111 (This will be the DNS of the ISP)


    To add in more DNS Server's, click on [Advanced]
    The click on the [DNS] tab,
    Click on [Add]
    And add in as many DNS entries as needed for your network.
    Click [OK]
    Then click [OK] again
    Then click [OK] to close our of the [Properties] dialog.
    Then click [Close] to get out of the [Status] Dialog.

    The above information is usually performed by a system's administrator or technical personal, please make sure you have some knowledge of troubleshooting any issues that may arise with changing network setting's without your system.
