    When trying to install Norton Antivirus 2009, Norton Antivirus 2010, Norton Antivirus 2011, Norton Antivirus 2012, Norton Antivirus 2013 and you do not have Terminal Services installed into services, you will experience the following error.
  • Details
    Terminal Services is needed for programs to run properly.
    Norton Antivirus 2009 and above, need this service to be installed into Services, in order for it to install or function properly.

    The following error will happen when trying to install Norton Antivirus 2009.

     
    A problem has occured that needs your attention:

    This process is unable to continue because the "" component was unable to start correctly. Please restart your computer and try again.
    Go to Technical Support Web site


    For those using Norton Antivirus 2012 or Norton Antivirus 2013, you may receive the following error message instead.

     

    A problem has occured that needs your attention:

    This process is unable to continue due to a system service that may not be installed or cannot be started. please repair your installation of windows before continuing.
  • Recreate Issue
    To recreate this issue.

    When Terminal Services is not installed into Services, programs that use it, will not be able to function or install properly or at all.
  • Resolve Issue
    To resolve this issue.
    This is for Windows XP, Vista (Maybe windows 2000), am not sure about Windows 7.
    Copy the script and paste into Notepad, save as: TermServ.reg
    Double click on file, and click [ok] on both dialog boxes.
    (You might want to create a restore point on your system before)

    This script will work for Norton Antivirus 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and possibly newer versions as they become available.
