When you try to open a folder in Windows XP, you might receive an error stating that access is denied. Having an Administrator account login, will enable you to access this folder. - Details
When you try to access a folder in Windows XP, you might encounter the following error.
C:\My Folder\FolderName is not accessible.
Access is denied
[ok] - Recreate Issue
To recreate this issue.
Remove yourself from ownership of a folder. - Resolve Issue
To resolve this issue.
Right Click on the folder.
Choose [Properties]
Choose [Security] Tab
(Click [OK] on the warning dialog, to take ownership of the folder)
Click on the [Advanced] button
Click on the [Owner] tab
Click on [Administrator] account
Click [Apply]
Click yes to take Ownership of the folder.
Then [OK] and then [OK] to close the Properties dialog.
Right Click on the folder again.
Choose [Properties]
Choose [Security] Tab
Click on [Add]
Type in [Administrator]
Click [Check Names]
Choose the Administrator account with [Built-in account] (Usually on the top)
Click [OK], then [OK] again
Give the [Administrator] account [Full Control] but checking the box at the top of the list.
Click [Apply] then [OK]
You should not be able to access the contents of the folder.
However, you might have to perform the above action, on every folder that is inside of the folder you have just taken ownership of.
