Issue DetailsWindows 7 mouse stops working and disappears from view when the monitor goes to sleep (or) with no activity for a long amount of time.
Windows 7 seems to have a problem with your mouse, and this is an ongoing issue, even with the latest full release of Windows 7. This issue also interupts the keyboard from properly functioning.
Resolve IssueThe only way that I know of at this moment is one of the following:
[Scenario #1:]Move the mouse around until the mouse finally shows up.This action usually works and causes a program's menu to pop up. This behavior is normal; click somewhere on the desktop to make it go away.
[Scenario #2:]From your keyboard, press the Ctrl+Alt+DelNow, your keyboard may not seem to be responding. Just give it a moment and let it catch up with whatever is causing the mouse issue; it seems to affect the keyboard's performance as well, so it is unusable during this process.
Once the Window opens, click the [Cancel] button to return to your desktop.
[Scenario #3:]If you have your monitor set to turn off after a certain time of inactivity, disable this function.Instead, cut the monitor off itself, by the button on the monitor, or if this is a laptop, close your laptop lid (First, set the options NOT to turn off the computer with lid closed)
This action will stop the mouse from not functioning. You will not be cutting anything off on the computer; you will only be cutting off the monitor.
This issue will hopefully be resolved in a future Windows 7 Service Pack or Windows 7 Hotfix
