KB IssueWhen sharing across the network with Windows 7, you may get an error telling you that it is not accessible or that you do not have permission.
Issue DetailsCreating network shares has always been rather easy to do, but now that Windows 7 has come along, we are faced with some more challenges in our goal to create that share across all computers in our network.

The following error is just one of the few that you may receive when trying to access the Windows 7 share from another computer.



\\win7pc\shared folder is not accessible.
You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.
Recreate Issue
In Windows 7, without the proper permissions set for the share, you will not be able to access it via the Network.
Microsoft has tightened up its security for shares so that you have to go that extra step in order to allow someone access to the share. This, in turn, may cause a person to avoid performing the required steps to share their files.
This is a good thing, the reason:
Sharing can be a bad idea if you do not properly set permissions and allow the wrong person to access your files.
Resolve IssueChoose the drive or folder that you want to share

Right-click and choose Properties
Create Share
  1. Click on the [Sharing] Tab
  2. Click on [Advance Sharing]
  3. Check the [Share this folder] at the top of the dialog box.
  4. Click on [Permissions]
  5. Click on [Add]
  6. Click on [Advanced]
  7. Click on [Find Now]
  8. Scroll through the list and double-click on [Everyone]
  9. Then click [OK]
  10. Check [Allow] for either: Read | Write | Full Control
  11. Click [Apply] then click [OK]
  12. Then click [OK] again.
  13. With the Properties dialog box still open, perform the following.--Set Security--
  14. Click on the [Security] tab
  15. Click on [Edit]
  16. Click on [Add]
  17. Click on [Advanced]
  18. Click on [Find Now]
  19. Scroll through the list and double-click on [Everyone]
  20. Then click [OK]
  21. Check [Allow] for either: Full Control | Modify | Read & Execute | List folders contents | Read | Write | Special Permission
  22. In the above options, to allow someone to access the drive to read and write, choose [Modify] or [Full Control]
    Click [Apply] then click [OK]
  23. --Setting Security Settings On Shared Files--Now, depending on the size of the folder that you have chosen to share, this may take some time. On a folder over 200 GB, it takes less than 2 minutes.
  24. Click [Close]
Access Share from the Network

Now, go to another computer within your network and access the new share.
