Issue DetailsWhen viewing Events in Windows 7 Event Viewer, you may notice that you cannot view the events when you click on the Windows Logs or Applications and Services and their subcategories.
This seems to be a bug in the Event Viewer.
Resolve IssueTo view the events in the Event Viewer while using Windows 7, do the following.
Click on the item that you want to view.
- (Options)
- Application
- Security
- Setup
- System
- Forwarded Events.
You will see at the top of the center panel whether there are items listed for this selection. If there are events listed but not showing in the list, select one of the other items on the left, then quickly select the recent item again.
[Scenario #1:]- Step #1:
Select a log file [System] - Step #2:
Select another log file [Application] - Step #3:
Quickly re-select the first log file [System]
You should now be able to view the log file entries. If this does not work, repeat the steps until it does.
We are currently reporting this issue to Microsoft in the hope that it will be resolved in a future patch.
[Scenario #2:]Other things that you can try.
When you first open Event Viewer, let it fully load.
This can take upwards of a minute.
If this does not work, then try the above Scenario instead.
