KB Issue

If you receive the error "The Cluster Service service failed to start," you may have an issue with the cluster service.

Issue Details

When trying to add a server to a cluster, we receive the error.

The Cluster Service service failed to start due to the following error: The pipe has been ended.

Recreate Issue

This issue will occur at times. Not particular certain to the reasoning, or why, but it does happen. It may be caused by driver corruption or a similar issue.

Resolve Issue

Remove the Cluster Service Role from each Server that is experiencing the issue
Restart Server
Add the Cluster Service Role back to each Server
