500 Internal Server Error, and IIS7, using Classic ASP, can be a nightmare, if IIS7 is not configured properly. However, a web.config file must be present.

Issue Details

By default, IIS7 does not show the ASP Classic error to the web page.
Even if you set the browser to NOT show Friendly error messages.
This behavior is a default setting in IIS7 and can only be set in the web.config file.

Recreate Issue

By default, IIS7 does not show ASP Classic errors on the page.
You will instead get the default 500 Error

Resolve Issue

Step 1. Open a text document.
Step 2. Insert this code:

Step 3. Save the file as Web.Config
